History
{'text': 'The Old Fashioned grew from the nineteenth-century practice of ordering a cocktail in its older, simpler form: spirit, sugar, water and bitters. That formula closely resembles the printed definition of a cocktail from 1806, but the drink was not called an Old Fashioned then. The name was in circulation by 1880. A later claim that the Pendennis Club in Louisville invented it is not supported by the earlier printed record.', 'status': 'RESEARCH_TEXT_FINAL_HISTORY_APPROVAL_PENDING'}

Restraint is the point: whiskey leads, sugar rounds, bitters define.
