Cocktail recipe
Dark 'n' Stormy
Bermuda dark rum rolls over fiery ginger beer like a storm front.

Ingredients
- 60 ml (2 oz) Goslings Black Seal rum — specified for the trademarked drink
- 180 ml (6 oz) chilled spicy ginger beer
- Garnish: 1 lime wedge, optional
Preparation
Fill a highball with fresh ice and pour in chilled ginger beer. Slowly float the dark rum over the top to create a dramatic dark layer, then invite a single gentle stir before drinking. Add a lime wedge at the rim if desired; do not automatically squeeze lime into the original two-ingredient structure.
Glassware
Highball glass, cubed ice
History
The drink is closely associated with Bermuda, where Goslings rum met ginger beer in a local maritime drinking culture. Goslings recounts a story about naval officers' ginger-beer production and a sailor comparing the drink's colour to a threatening cloud; that evocative naming anecdote is brand tradition rather than independently verified dialogue. Crucially, **DARK 'N STORMY** is a registered Gosling Brothers trademark, including a US registration from 1991 and a Canadian registration from 2006. The branded recipe specifies Goslings Black Seal rum and ginger beer. A generic dark-rum-and-ginger-beer variation should not be marketed under the protected branded name without appropriate review.
Mixology View
The brand specificity here is deliberate and exceptional: historical accuracy and trademark considerations outweigh our usual brand-neutral ingredient policy. We should obtain a legal/brand review of how this title and recipe appear on Mixology.com before publication; we are not affiliated with Goslings.
