Mixology.com Ethos - Our Statement of Intention

Hello and welcome to the Premier Issue of Mixology.com - the paramount magazine wholly devoted to the Art and Science of Cocktail and Drink Recipes.

A magazine about living?

The idea behind Mixology.com is simple: to examine life from an aesthetically charged viewpoint. To taste cuisine, to tune our ears toward music, our eyes toward film, our minds toward pleasure. Oh, and our tongues and noses toward the fruits embedded in Drink with a capital D.

Remember pleasure? The simple enjoyment that one may experience sharing a drink with someone while the white-breasted bartender (known by name as Lloyd) knowingly glances at the piano player to whip up something with a swing. Stan Getz comes to mind.

So why focus on the Martini? Name me a cocktail more evocative of the 20th Century, a drink that combines both elegance and grace, a drink that makes every man James Bond and every woman Bettie Davis - yes, so what was the question? Oh, why the Martini? The answer is obvious.

In a century that has seen advancement in the arts, technology, and what is socially acceptable, there exists one pillar that is constantly appealed to. A toast before the war. A sip to stir debate. A taste of civilization, as Ernest Hemingway regarded it.

So please, by all means, feel free to lose yourself in the sights, smells and tastes that is Mixology.com. Become intoxicated by the images that, we hope, will be your guide to an elating engagement that is the definition of effervescence.

And if you feel like cranking up the Old Victoria during your stay, again, by all means, enjoy.
