Houston we have lift off!

Welcome to the launch of our magazine.

What is Mixology.com? The idea for this publication originated from an insert in a Playboy magazine a friend lent me - honestly, I was just reading the articles.

Titled "Happy Hour Mixology - 44 Drink recipes", the article was produced by Southern Comfort. It contained recipes, cocktails, zodiac signs, numerology and swinging couples. I thought that the quirky subjects and quips would make for an interesting publication.

I mentioned the idea to some colleagues and each one of them expressed the same sentiment. Fantastic! We gathered everyone interested and brainstormed ideas for the magazine - over several cocktails, of course. A cornucopia of ideas were generated; one which has since stuck, is for the magazine to focus on a mixture of philosophy, sociology, and astrology. This is a far cry from our initial concept, but like any democracy, we needed to explore this idea. No on could agree on how to present this concept, and the pissing contest got way out of hand. Christ, there was almost a flood.

As we regressed to a point that was not salvageable, we called it quits and disbanded. But I was still convinced that the original concept for the magazine was sound, so I continued to develop the idea. This time I made sure that the people involved were sincerely interested in creating a publication that focused on the Art and Science of Living. It turns out that the people most interested are your friends. I am here to tell you, if you ever want to look forward to going to work, work for yourself and work with your friends.

The next logical step was to purchase the URL "mixology.com," and start to map out the magazine's content. We had a great time researching cocktails, alcohol and everything else. We are like sponges absorbing all the information we encounter. We have developed a great number of ideas and plan to bring them to you each issue. All of these ideas have one common theme: to promote great times, unbelievable places, well designed objects, and interesting people - all of which will accompany captivating content.

But we forgive Bond, much like we forgive our oldest uncle who only drinks Bacardi and Coke because, well, that's just what Uncle Bruce does. Bond, and Uncle Bruce, don't wear their drinks like badges but we put those badges on him.

Each of our issues will provide you with the most in- depth, newsworthy and entertaining subjects on the Art and Science of Living.

The road to our success will be paved with many cocktails, and we're all looking forward to that challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the premiere issue of Mixology.com as much as we enjoyed creating it and bringing it to you.

Fasten your belts, plug in the blender and get ready to blast off. It is going to be one exciting trip.
